How to Reduce Swelling After Lip Filler?

Do you know what causes swelling after lip filler? Is it normal to swell after a lip-filler injection? What can I do about it? These are some of the questions we want to answer in this blog post. Swelling is a common side effect of any treatment, and even if it doesn't bother you, your friends will still notice. We'll give you four tips on how to reduce the swelling so that people don't think twice about why your lips look different than before.

1) Ice your lips
Our bodies are designed to keep the temperature at a certain level. When this changes (for example, after lip-filler injection), our body reacts by increasing blood flow to compensate. This is what causes swelling.
Ice packs will reduce edema or fluid retention so that you can get back to routine faster. If you don't have ice packs, put a few ice cubes in a plastic bag and wrap them up.

2) Take over-the-counter medication
There are a few different medications that you can take to reduce swelling. Ibuprofen is one of them, and it's available over the counter without a prescription. It helps by reducing inflammation in the body.
Another option is to take corticosteroids, which are anti-inflammatory drugs. However, do not take antihistamines because they will worsen the swelling.

3) Apply a cold compress
If you don't have an ice pack but still want to reduce swelling, apply a cold compress. You can use anything non-perishable and clean such as fresh vegetables or fruits. We recommend cucumber slices because they're gentle on your skin and provide the right amount of cooling effect for swollen lips.
Put the pieces on your lips for a few minutes, and you'll start to see a difference. Remember that you should only do this for the first day or two after lip filler injection; otherwise, it will damage your skin.

4) Wait it out
Your lips might feel a little swollen after a lip-filler injection, but the swelling usually goes away within a couple of days. If you're looking for immediate results, we don't recommend getting filler in your lips because they will swell and can stay this way up to two weeks. However, following these tips, swelling should go down within a few days when adequately cared for.
Remember that you are not alone in this process. Your doctor or nurse can help you get back to regular faster with the proper medication or treatment plan. Swelling is joint after any cosmetic procedure, but it's usually temporary, so don't worry too much about it.
